- Maintenance and operations — Software isn't finished the day it ships. Monitoring, backups, updates, data protection compliance: the model takes none of these off your plate.

The questions to ask when gathering proposals have changed. "How many days will it take?" is no longer a differentiator — everyone is fast. The questions that do set vendors apart are:
- Who reviews the code, and what is the testing strategy?
- Who owns the architectural decisions (data model, scaling, integration boundaries)?
- Are post-delivery monitoring, backups, and security updates in scope?
- How are project documentation and handover guaranteed?
